Bayfield, Wisconsin

July 4, 09
Awoke to clear blue skies and a temperature of 65. Definitely warming up today! Diane slept in after staying up to 3am trying to get caught up on blogging in fear that we would have weak or no internet signal at our next destination, Bayfield, Wi. We pulled out of our campground at 12:30pm.

Alpine Campground- parking on grass lots-lots of mosquito's and pretty tired looking, but nice owners.( pictures as we leave) Bye Bye Alpine Campground Stopped at Wal-Mart and pick up this weeks groceries. Ate lunch in the parking lot, then got on our way. Driving through Ashland, Wisconsin, we caught a glance of lake Superior. Then arrived at Apostle Island Area Campground, located 1 mi. west of Bayfield, which is almost at the very north most area of Wisconsin. Our trip was a very long and tiring 47 miles. Next time we will have to make it shorter. Our campground entrance was on a hill. After checking in, we were told our site was up the hill a little further. Unhooked the Honda and checked it out. You can just barely see Lake Superior through the tree tops with a harbor filled with sailboats way off in the distance. We backed into our site, than realized it wasn't our campsite. Ours was next door with a line of bushes and trees blocking the small view. Bargained with the owners, paid $5 a day more for the great view for the next 5 days. We will have to move to our original hidden view site, because other people reserved this site in 5 days. We plan on being here at least a week. Diane is very happy with fast internet hookup and strong phone service.
