Bandelier National Monument

9/6/09

Leaving Santa Fe in the car for a day trip to Bandelier Monument which is just south of Los Alamos, NM.
On our way to Bandelier National Monument, 48 miles away. Going threw Santa Fe.

Pretty view of mountains and clouds on our way.
A butt, on our way.
View near Bandelier Monument, before we enter the canyon. Looking at Canon De Los Frijoles.
In the Canyon, looking at the ruins of the village of Tyuonyi and Cliff Dwellings.

Look at all those holes on the side of the canyon wall.
Do you see the pueblo built against the canyon wall?

Amazing ruins.

It starts to rain, so we find shelter.
We join others in the caves.
They were here first. But were so kind to share their Cliff Dwelling.

It stopped raining, so our friends left. I move into the room the man was in and take a shot of Joe.

Enjoying the view from the dwelling.
Another view from the dwelling. Looking at the side of the canyon wall.
Rain has stopped. Time to check out another dwelling.
Some holes are small. Joe," get your hand out of there, before something bites you".

Another dwelling.

Hi everyone! Won't you come in and see my new place.
This place is really big.

Joe can stand up in here, with a lot of head room. Room is about 12 feet by 15 feet.
Time to move on while it's not raining.
Pictures on the side of the canyon. It has been covered by plastic to protect it.
Heading back to Santa Fe. It starts to rain again!
As we came around the hill, we saw a police car, ambulance and a fire truck and this car. Looks like he hit the rail. The people drive real fast around here.
Almost back to camp.

Pink rain! Sunset and the rain in far distance.
Back at camp.
Movie room. Darn, got home to late for the nightly showing of a movie in the movie room!
