Day Drive To Cedar Breaks Monument, UT

6/5/2010

We were not ready to leave Zion National Park, so when our five free days were up at St George Resort, we moved to the Willowind RV Resort in Hurricane, UT.
You'd think we were in Iowa, with the trees and the grass. This park is very nice and we are happy we have shade, because we are suppose to get into the 100's this week. Because it was in the mid nineties, we decided to do a day drive in the car to higher ground. We drove north on Hwy. 15 to Cedar City. At Cedar City we took Hwy. 14 to the Dixie National Forest. We start to get above the trees. Zion Overlook in the Dixie National Forest. Then we started to see snow, and then lots of snow. We were told by our neighbors we should take a drive to Cedar Breaks before we left the area. We stopped to check out the snow. " Don't you darn, " I told Joe Mallery got real excited, when her feet hit the snow. We have not experienced snow for two winters now. After playing in the snow, we drove to the first of four lookout points. Point Supreme / elevation 10,350. We were in shorts and I was in a sleeveless top. We went from sweating to wishing we had put on pants. We both grab our jackets, when we got back to our car. Sunset View. The 2nd lookout point. Chessmen Ridge Overlook / elevation 10,480. The 3rd lookout point. North View. The last lookout point.
