Glacier Park Lodge

It was time to leave the east side of Glacier National Park.

There are restrictions on how long you can be to go east over the mountains on the "Going To The Sun Road". You can only be 21 ft long, 10 ft high and 8 ft wide. We definitely don't fit those restrictions. We had to take Highway 2 south for awhile, then east so we could go around the mountain ridge. Once around, we continued Hwy 2 until we came to Hwy 49. At Hwy 49 we went north again.

We entered into the east entrance of Glacier National Park. The Blackfeet Tribe Reservation surrounds  the east side of Glacier national Park.

We decided to stay at Two Medicine Campground for a few days, before headed back east to Iowa.

The interior roads are nice on the east side of Glacier also.

We got to Two Medicine Campground early and got a choice spot.

After set up we walked Mallery. I noticed these pine cones at the top of an evergreen. They looked different with some kind of white coating.

We walked over to the gift shop.

After our walk we drove over to the Glacier Park Lodge. This is a picture of the train station, located directly across the road from the lodge. Trains have been bringing travelers to the lodge for years.

Back across the street is the lodge.

This red touring bus is one of their earlier models.

Inside the lodge lobby.

At this end of the lobby, chairs for relaxing.

Check in / check out counter.

We stumbled into an area where the lodge was having a chili and cookie cook off. We helped ourselves to the free samples until our mouths were on fire. Then we sample cookies. After our sampling, we voted for the best chili and cookie. We timed our visit at the lodge perfectly, I'd say!
