Goose Creek RV Resort, North Carolina 5/8/2011

As we left Jacksonville, North Carolina's Wal-Mart our GPS takes us right by the Camp Lejeune  Marines Corp Base. The Hwy was lined with posters welcoming home our troops.

Hwy 17 is dedicated to our troops and also called Freedom Way.  I liked the purple and yellow wild flowers along the highway.

Our drive was very short, at 28 miles. We really like the size of this sign. You just can't miss the turn.

Down the road , we are guided with another sign where to turn.

And still another one, at the fork in the road,  This park gets a two  thumps up on helping big buses make the right turns.

It was Sunday and no one was at the office. Luckily there was an emergency number on the office door. Joe was told our welcome package was back at the guard shack. No one was at the guard shack, so we just drove in. The person Joe talked to, brought our information to us, so we could find our site. The stairs up the hill, goes to a slide that goes down to a pool, in the above picture.

We were given site G -5, a back- in site, next to the pond. We used our Passport America Membership, and get to stay here at half price for $23.00 a day. The price is only good from Sunday to Thursday.

After dinner, we walked down to Bogue Sound.

The park has two long docks on the sound.

There are fish cleaning stations on the dock, and boat ramps in between the docks.

The park is very large, with the majority of the lots having permanent fifth wheels or trailers, dressed up with skirting, decks, sheds, and golf carts.

We were told the park is very quiet during the week, but is buzzing with activity on the weekends.

When Joe booked us at this park, he was told since we were using Passport America, we would be put on a site with just water and electricity, and no sewer. When Joe told me this, I wrinkled my nose at him, to let him know I wasn't happy with that. We are staying here for 5 days, and that means conserving water..In 5 days our grey tank would be overfull with normal water usage. Joe asked where the dump station was, when the lady brought him our welcome information. She told him where it was, but said, " You can dump at your site, you have a full hook -up site." Praise the Lord for a full hook up site. I hate conserving water when doing dishes. The guy that booked Joe on the phone was at a calling center for Encore Resorts and didn't know the policies to this park.

We get back to our yard and enjoy our waterfront yard. As we fall asleep, we hear the fountain instead of the ocean.
