Anacortes, WA

Friday 9/14/2012

After visiting Deception Pass, we drove back north on Hwy. 20 to the northern most point of Fidalgo Island to the town of Anacortes, WA.

On the way to Cap Sante Park we drove past this home.

It had great detail below the roof line.

Cap Sante Park sits at the highest point of Anacortes.

Looking east from Cap Sante Park.

Lots of boats out in Padilla Bay.

These kayakers were just dots out in the bay, but with my zoom lens, I could almost bring them into focus.

Close up of the bay, Washington mainland and Mount Baker.

Some kind of refinery south east of Cap Sante Park point.

Looking directly south from the park.

Looking west from the park gives us a good view of Anacortes and the marina.

Looking further north toward the San Juan Islands.

While we looked from the point we had to dodge the remote 4 wheelers. There seemed to be a club of the operators at the park that day.

After leaving the park we drove to the historic neighborhood of the town.

The detail on older homes are so beautiful.

In the same neighborhood is the Causland Memorial Park.

The park was surrounded by a beautiful mosaic wall.

The park also had a mosaic bandstand.

The park was built in the 1920's and is on the Register Of Historic Places.

We left Anacortes after stopping at a few shops in the downtown area of Anacortes, and headed home. This is a picture from Rainbow Bridge looking south of La Conner, WA.

Joe picked up some oysters for dinner.

Oyster Rockefeller for dinner for Joe. I am not crazy for oysters, so Joe made me something else
