Lake Easton Resort, Easton, WA

Wednesday 9/19/2012

After a week in La Conner, WA, we headed south on Hwy 5 toward Seattle.

In Seattle we took I-90 east.

Map of our drive so far that day.

In the suburbs of Seattle we past Lake Sammamish. The lake is located 7 miles east of Seattle and is 7 miles long and 1.5 miles wide.

We had to climb over the Cascade Mountains to get to our next destination.

We couldn't figure out why the sky was so hazy. When we arrived at our destination we found out that forest fires had been going on for about a week prior to that day.

Our drive that day was 131 miles.

It was a gradual climb to the summit.

At one point the Interstate divided. The westward interstate was a bridge over the trees. Joe likes driving Nest 2 much better over mountains then Nest 1.

I-90 takes you through the Snoquaimie Pass at 3022 feet elevation.

The rest was all down hill.

Keechelus Lake is in the Cascade Range along I-90 and is formed by the Yakima River with a dam on the eastern edge of the lake.

On the eastern slope of I-90 the highway had some ruts that made the ride a bit bumpy. Joe said, "Be sure to be careful when you open the cabinets"!

Our next campground was in Easton, Washington on the eastern slopes of the Cascades at 2169 ft elevation.

Lake Easton Resort is located right off of I-90.

We picked this RV park because it is a ROD Campground and we stay free with our membership.

Here is our map with our drive and destination highlighted.

The office told us that there was two forest fires going on at that time. One to the north about an 40 miles away, and one to the northeast about an hour away.

The resort has access to Lake Easton through a gate and a very short walk.
The town of Lake Easton has a population of 478.

The campground was the usual, gravel in roads and close sites. We stayed at Lake Easton for a week. We had internet and satellite while there. Joe has learned to ask for a site that satellite is available. The office gave us this site saying this one had the best possibility at getting it. He did have to move forward and back a few times to find it.
