Munising Tourist Park Campground, Munising, MI.

                                    Friday 8/16/2013

We left Houghton, Michigan after a wonderful 3days in the Houghton City RV Park and backtracked down Hwy. 41 to Hwy 28 and then turned east.

Just east of Marquette, MI.we found a rest stop. If you are going east like we were, you have to cross to the other side of the road for the Welcome/ Rest stop. I found a bike/walking path next to the rest stop where I walked Mallery before lunch.

The path sits next to Lake Superior, where I saw a few people swimming in the water up to their neck.

The drive was around 140 miles and about a 3 hours.

The town of Christmas is located just west of Munising, MI. There are two lighthouses in Christmas, but we never got back to Christmas to see them.

Munising Tourist Park Campground is located right off of Hwy. 28, about 2 miles west of Munising.

We were "Blessed" to get a site in this park because they were completely full the night we arrived, and while we were there for four nights. When anyone left the park, someone came in to replaced them. Our site was in the back row, but we did have a water view site out our front window.

The space between the sites where we were was spacious, but our row sat right next to Hwy. 28, so we heard traffic all night. Most sites had much closer neighbors in the rest of the campground. RV's sites are grass, and in roads are gravel. There is free WiFi in the park.

We had high 70's to low 80's while we were staying in this campground, but because the park is located on Lake Superior we had wonderful breezes that made it feel much cooler.

Munising sits in the Munising Bay which gives the beaches protection from the big waves of Lake Superior.

Our site had only electric and water, but there are a few sites that have full hook ups. If you want a full hook up site or one of the few waterfront sites, you will have to plan way ahead to get one of those sites. Most of the sites don't have sewer hook ups and there are only 6 shower for the 87 RV sites plus the tent sites. Joe said he read a review that said, " Don't plan on taking a shower because the shower line are too long". Joe did manage to get showers when he didn't have to wait too long, where as I just went without one for two days and took one in the Nest when I realized we had done well on our grey tank conservation.

  1. Nice images friend! It is will be very helpful those who want to go there. The Munising tourist Park is the famous and major park in Munising city. My uncle has been visited in this park before denver to yellowstone tours with his business partner. This park is right on Lake Superior. The sites are large and the park is easy to navigate. This park is the best for family to spend an amazing time. After reading your blog I must go there with my family to enjoy holidays.

    1. Jani Jack, Yes we really enjoyed ourselves at this park. Can't get better views and the location to do things in the area is awesome. The only thing better would have been if we had the front row sites, but we didn't schedule this reservations but a week or so ahead, so lucky to even get in, in the first place. The park was full while we were there.
