Henderson State Park, Destin, FL.

We left Big Lagoon State Park and headed across the 3 mile bridge to Gulf Breeze that we had crossed the day before to see Pensacola Beach.

After a 2 hour drive on Hwy 98, we started to get close to Destin. I can always tell when we are getting close to Destin by the white sand dunes.

Then around the corner we see the big resort building, which is also a clue that we are entering Destin. Then I see the Destin sign," Destin The World's Luckiest Fishing Village"

Destin is one of my favorite places along the gulf panhandle coastline. We stayed in Destin, FL. 5 years ago, and I always said I wanted to return some day.

We had reservations at the Henderson Beach State Park, which is located off Hwy 98 right in the middle of Destin.

Here are the entrance fees if you are coming to the park for only a day use.

We are given Site # 9. We stayed at this park 5 years ago, and we are 99 % sure this is the same site we stayed in back then.

I love the sites in Henderson Beach State Park because they are all really private. There are thick bushes on both sides of the sites.

The sites are gravel, except for the handicapped sites which are paved.

All sites have cloths lines, which we use to hang our towel out during the day. ((RV's don"t breath well so towels have a tendency to not dry as fast as they do in homes, and especially in humid states like AL and FL).

As you can see, you can not see the RV on the other side of this site. This park has only 60 sites, so it is not a real big campground. All sites are water and electric only, so conservation of water is the name of the game here. Not my favorite things to do, and the only negative of this state park. The park is a bit pricey at $30 a night, but this is one of my favorite state park campgrounds along the panhandle, so it is worth the stay.

The bathrooms are very clean and updated.

After we set up and had a late lunch, we headed down the  paved path to take Mallery for her afternoon walk and to see the ocean.

After an 1/8 of a mile on the paved path, we come to the boardwalk that takes you to the ocean.

The walk on the boardwalk is about a 1/4  of a mile to the beach.

We can't go on the beach because we have Mallery with us, so we just take in the beauty and ocean breeze's.

I couldn't believe there were 3 kids playing in the water. The temps were around 63 and sunny, but we have had pretty cold nights in the high 30's and low 40's, so I can't imagine the water was warm. But kids always seem to handle things adults don't.

Mallery says it's time to move on. Who's the boss here anyway. Yep it's Mallery!
