Time Between Our Guests

                                                       July 26, 2015

One day after our guest left, we were heading to town and I saw these horses being taken for a swim at a public beach. It had been in the 90's that day, so I am sure they really appreciated being cooled down.

Mallery continues to be doing really well. We are giving her fluid treatments at about every 5 days, which seems to be tolerable for her and us.

Normally I don't go for a swim without company, but it had been so hot, that a swim in the lake was just what I needed to cool off that afternoon.
The Monday after the kids left, the fence people came and started to put it in.

They seemed to work really slow for having 4 to 5 guys working every day.

I will admit, the first 2 to 3 days were extremely hot, so it seemed they were standing around taking turns putting in the post.

During the last week of July the lake was extremely turquoise.

We are not sure why it was so turquoise, but it reminded us of Torch Lake, which was Joe's choice of lake when we were looking for a lake home. Torch Lake is about 45minutes south of us and seemed to have much more expensive home, causing us to forget living on that lake.
As they finished the fence, Mallery got to enjoy some freedom off her leash.
This was my last wish, that Mallery get to enjoy a fenced in yard again before we lose her. Thank you God for Blessing me with this last prayer!
One day I sat on the deck and watched Mallery take a nap in the  yard.

She really loves to  just wonder around and then find a cool spot for a siesta. Her home has finally settled down, with no moving furniture, and she is adjusting really well to her new environment.

A Week With Our Family At Our Cottage Cabin Summer Home Continued....

                                             Monday 7/20/2015
It has been a while since I last posted a blog. We have been busy with Joe's family visiting us. But I will get back to our time  with our daughter, son-in-law and grandson Lennox.
When we went on a day trip to Petoskey for water shoes, I purchased this blow up row boat. Lennox gave the first try at it, while connected to a rope.
Lennox took me for a ride, while my daughter Tiffany teased us saying she was going to tip us over.
Later that day, the three boys tried to fish off the dock, but with no luck.
But Lennox caought a pink sponge fish to make up for the slow day. So glad someone caught dinner that night!

We put a yellow rubber rope around some trees marking Lennox's boundaries. He was told if he cross past the rope, he would be grounded.
Clouds roll in,
but Blake still decided to take the inflatable boat out to try to fish.

Lennox really enjoyed swimming off our dock.

At first I only felt comfortable with him swimming with a life jacket. Later we took it off so he could dive for rings.
On another day, we took a day drive to Harbor Springs. We walked on the marina dock, which is must to do in Harbors Spring to see the most cleanest and clearest water at depths of at least 25 feet. The city beach is located right next to the marina. We needed to have something planned for Lennox so that the drive was worth it for him. Right away Lennox saw some boys his age with water gun. Darn I had bought some water guns for all of us to play with, but forgot to bring them. Instead I had brought some sand toys I had bought, but they were the wrong toys to share to meet and play with the other boys. He did his best playing with them trying to show his small dinky boat to the rich boys with their expensive big boats. I felt sad for my sweet Lennox, but so proud that he did his best with what he had and still had a good time.
Harbor Springs is located in a harbor in the Little Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan. It is the wealthest area in Northern Michigan.

The video below is of Lennox riding the dragon on another day back at our place. The one after that is of him jumping off our dock.

Lennox sporting his fins Nana bought him.
The last night that our guest were with us, we went down to "Up Town Friday Night" that is held every Friday night in Boyne City during the summer. We ate at the "Thick & Juicy" hamburger joint in downtown Boyne City. All Lennox was thinking about was getting a toy that he saw the day before. All he had to do was to be good for the night.
Here my little Lennox is trying to smile after being told "No toy" because of his attitude the whole night. He was so concentrated on getting that toy, that his behavior of not enjoying the evening did him in. I kind of felt sorry for him, but I know in the end discipline is more important then a toy. But I still felt sorry for him!
All the businesses give away free stuff on "Up Town Friday Night" Remax gives away free horse and wagon rides. Some give out free bottles of water, frisbee, popcorn, and ice cream coupons for the kids, and etc.
Tiffany, Blake & Lennox went for a free wagon ride after a 30 minute wait. The next day after a week with us we took them to Traverse City to fly back home. We sure enjoyed having them, especially our sweet little grandson Lennox!
If you find any clerical errors, please forgive me. I proof read this, but Joe has been too busy with his family to proof read it. Two proof readers are always better than one.

Company Arrives - Round 1

                                                    July 18, 2015

We had to pick up our first guest to our new "Cottage Cabin Home" at the Traverse City Airport, which is an hour south of Boyne City
And here they are, our daughter Tiffany, son-in-law Blake, and grandson Lennox.
It was a long day of flying for our 6 1/2 year old Lennox, and we still had another hour of driving to get home, (which ended up much longer because the ferry was down making us go all the way around Lake Charlevoix) .
The next day, Blake teaches Lennox how to cast with his first fishing pole.
Before swimming, Joe came up with a plan for a ladder, since we didn't have a ladder on the dock into the water. The next best thing is a red neck ladder.
The water was a bit cold, but nothing could stop a little boy from swimming.
Blake decides to take the row boat out for a spin.
Daddy take me too!
Oops, Blake drops his oars in the water. Cold water here comes Blake to fetch them!
Not so cold after the first plunge.Add caption

It was time for a real boat ride, and Lennox's first boat ride. On our third boat ride on another day, we heard a clunk noise in the engine. It didn't seem to effect the engine performance, so we continued. Later we heard another clunk, and then another. We headed toward home. About 100 yards from the dock, the engine started to smoke, and when Joe put the boat in reverse as we got closer to the dock, the boat died. Blake got out the boat paddle and paddled toward the dock.
Just as we got to the boat lift, the paddle broke in two. So glad we got to the boat lift, or someone would be jumping in again! Two days later the boat went into the boat repair shop.
On another beautiful day, we went to Bay Harbor for lunch.

We decided to take the kids to the Knot for lunch.

It was a bit windy, but still a beautiful day for eating on the patio,

with great views of yachts,
and other mega boats.
Joe and I split our lunch. I ordered the fish sandwich,
and Joe order a cheese, bacon sandwich. Both were yummy, but the fish was better of course.

Mallery came for the day too. I parked her right next to our table on the other side of the wire cord. She has been doing real well lately, though her cataract seem worse. She went a little over two weeks without a fluid treatment. She has been seizure free for over two weeks since starting a supplements that are to help reduce them. To be continued:
