Road trip to Monument Valley

9/24/09

Today we took the RV back to the RV, Marina, & Auto Repair shop to see if the water pump relay came in on UPS. Our campground is just located a mile or so from the shop. We were told the UPS arrived around noon, so we wanted to be there when the truck pulled in so we could be 1st in line. It came in, and it took just about 5 minutes to install, and it worked- yahoo! Joe said it cost him $350, for his mistake, but the shop owner said he has see this happen many times. In fact he told Joe that he was lucky he didn't blow more things. He told him he had a guy do the same thing, but blew many more things in his RV, costing him $6000.00. So I guess we feel blessed in that case.
View from Hwy. 163

Took Hwy 98 from Page, AZ, not knowing what kind of road it was as it is a secondary road. It would save us a lot on gas, not having to back track on primary roads. Turned out to be a great road. From 98, we got back on Hwy. 160 to 163 to Monument Valley.

Hwy 163
" Oh Joe, flags ahead, one more stop please?"
Makes the day more fun when I get to shop. (Navajo vender's)

Almost to the park.

We pull up to pay to get into the park, and this cow is just eating away.
Another cow on the other side of the road.
We found our no hook up campground for $10 a night. We had to pull into a very bumpy gravel road and parking lot. No camping site, just pick a spot and park, but the view was great.

We meet our new neighbors from Holland. A young couple in their early 30's. She was 4 months pregnant having her first baby and a Dr. and he had some business manger position. They were here for 3 weeks in a rented RV. Our RV repair shop owner said it had been a good year for him, with all the Europeans traveling in the US this year. They can get a good deal with the US dollar being down these days.
