Flo's Steamed Hot Dogs and Moody Beach in ME.

In the morning we went to the farmers market in York and got some veggie, and I got some yummy chocolate bread.The farmers market in York, ME. do not allow dogs. We had Mallery, so I put her in my kangaroo pouch and stayed a distance, while Joe shopped.They told me the farmers market in Portsmouth didn't allow dogs either. This was a first for us. I did get close enough to try the chocolate bread sample. The bread is made by the Flying Pig in York.

On the way home we stopped at Flo's for lunch, in Cape Neddick, ME. Flo Stacy bought the business in 1959 and ran it for 14 years. She then sold it to her son and daughter in law John and Gail Stacy, who have ran it ever since.

My book recommend this place, so I told Joe I would buy. Flo's is open from 11AM to 3PM, and closed on Wednesdays.

While driving up Hwy. 1 toward Moody Beach we saw all the cars lining the highway. That helped us spot the place so we didn't drive past it.

We first had to wait outside for about 10 minutes, before getting into the door. We came around 2:00, so the wait was not as bad as some have claimed to wait. During prime season, I have read some people have had to wait for a hour to get their hot dogs.

In side, I took a picture of a few of her signs. Sorry it is a bit blurry. It reads " I'm having a Nice Day... DON"T SCREW IT UP"! They sells two of Flo's special sauces as well.

This must be Flo's daughter in law Gail. She is the only person working.

I finally get to the end of the front row, and she asks how many I want.  I answered four. She also asked about five other people how many they wanted.

There are stool and a bench to eat at, but I think they are never used, because there is always a line.

After they are put in the steamer, she asks all of us what we want on our dogs. I replied 2 House Specials, and 2 Loaded. Make sure you know what you want when she asks, because she is a one women show, and you don't want to slow down her pace.

Before she hands you your dogs, she takes each persons money, that gave their order when you did. The buns and dogs are steamed, so the buns are soft and the dogs have a snap when you bite into them. The dogs were very good, but I was especially impressed in Gail's ability to run the entire business on her own. She gets drinks and chips orders as well as the hot dogs for you. My total wait in line was around 30 minutes.

After lunch we decided we had better walk on Moody Beach, before we left the area. Because we are in the "off season", there is no parking fee. We walked on Ogunquit Beach when we first got to Moody Beach, but we started from the other end. Moody Beach is Private, so you can not park your chairs or towels on the beach, but you can walk on it below the water line.

We had Mallery with us, so off we went, but we just had to stay below the low water mark.

If you didn't figure out what the difference was between the two beaches, I'll tell you. There are very few feet prints in the dry sand above the water line vs on Ogunquit Beach.

It's quite a walk to the end, but you eventually come to a rocky point. Maybe at low tide, you can walk around the point. On the other side of the point, Wells Beach starts.

Joe note the painting on the sea wall and says he thinks it's kind of snooty of the owners to paint "private beach" on it!

I liked this home with it's porches.

We left the beach and stopped at Beach Plum Farm.

Joe wanted to get lobster one more time before we left Maine.

The business is off from the house on the side.

Joe had lobster and mussels for the last time, while I warmed up my clam chowder from the Maine Diner. Yum!
