Wildseed Farms, Fredericksburg, Texas

We left Luckenback, Texas ( last blog) and headed toward Hwy 290 ,then turned West toward Fredericksburg, TX.

Seven miles East of Fredericksburg on Hwy 290, we made a stop at the "Nations largest working wildflower farm".

The business is called Wildseed Farm.

Wildseed Farm grows fields of wildflowers for the seed.

The business has a very large gift shop,  and several other shops around the nursery.

I should have bought this sign, but I keep thinking I am going to make one of my own at a cheaper price. I have seen several signs, on this order. I purchased a yummy salsa, called Fireside salsa by Carter's Select instead, for $6.95. In one of the 3 shops, there were tons of samples of jellies, salsa, dips, and etc.

After sharing a small dish of peach ice cream, ( this area grows 40% of the peaches grown in Texas), we started our walk around the different fields of wildflowers.

Wildseed Farm had a large field with paths that you could walk amongst the wildflowers.

There were signs telling you to not sit in the field, because it would kill the flowers. Do you think everyone follows the rules? No, we saw several groups sitting in the wildflowers, posing for pictures.

As we left the Wildseed Farm we noted this sign. There is a stage with a large seating area in the middle of the farm where festivals are held. 

Wildseed farm is a must see stop if you are in the Fredericksburg area. In the gift shop they sell bags of wildflower seed for all the different regions in the USA. There website is www.wildseedfarms.com
