Pine Island, Fl.

We drove to North Fort Myers Wal-Mart, to stay for a night, because when Joe called the next RV park we were going to stay at, he found the park was full. He had called this park when we were in St.Petersburg, and because they seemed to have many openings at the time, he didn't book a spot. He was going to book a few days before arrival, but we got busy and by the time we got home, the park was closed for the evening. So now, after staying 2 nights at Wal-Mart in North Port, Fl., we will be staying for a third night at a Wal-Mart in North Fort Myers. I think he had this planned, to pay for the pizza we had the other day! Just kidding. After getting to Wal- Mart in North Fort Myers, we unhooked the car and drove to Pine Island. The picture above is of the south end of the Island in St. James City at the end of the road.

We were looking for beaches, but this is all we found. After doing research of the island, I found that there are no beaches on the island. The coast line is fringed with mangroves trees.

This was a sign of the point, but it was mostly covered by brush and trees.

Right off the road there are some very nice new homes.

Most of the homes on the Island are modest, unlike the ones I am showing you.

All of these homes are either on the ocean or canals, that go to the ocean. Because this Island didn't have any beaches, Joe was not interested in it anymore. I thought the homes on the canals were neat, because you just walked out your back door, to your dock to go fishing or for a boat ride.

Seventeen miles back the other way, we looked out from the fishing pier from the north end of the Island.

There are five communities on Pine Island.

There is a restaurant at the end of the pier.

This community on the north end of the Island is called Bokeelia.

I saw this large fish off the pier. Wish I had a pole, bait and license right now.

This was a cute home in the Bokeelia community.

When I got home I wanted to show you a picture of our lake outside our widow at Wal-mart. Joe may go fishing after dinner.
