Friday 2/8/13
On our 2nd day in the Fulton-Rockport area, we drove 30 miles to Corpus Christi, TX
Corpus Christi has a population of 307,953.
We found our way to Ocean Drive. Many mansions along this drive.
View of Oso Bay with many birds in the distance as we continued Ocean Dr. Right before the bridge over this bay, is the location of Texas A & M University.
We thought Ocean Drive would take us to Padre Island, but it took us to the Naval Air Station and dead ended there.
We turned around and drove back on Ocean Drive.
One of the many mansions on Ocean Drive
A new mermaid statue that had just been erected.
We stopped at a couple of the many parks along the drive.
One of the largest parks along the drive had a walkway,
to a pier.
View of the large city park from the pier.
View of the city from the pier.
The park had a large play area for the little ones.
It also had a very nice skateboard/bike ramps.
I read that Corpus Christie has many gangs in the city. This skateboard/bike area gives the young people a place to go and have other interests.
We followed Ocean Dr. to the marina.
There is free parking along Ocean Drive in the marina area.
We walked down the road that took us past the boats .
A view back toward the downtown area and from where we just walked.
Joe went off to check out an old ship,
as I continued walking around the marina area. Joe's Crab Shack is located at the marina.
Corpus Christi in Latin means Body Of Christ.
Further down from the marina is an air craft carrier.
and an Art Museum.
The day was ending, so we headed back north to Fulton.
