Angels Rest at Best Friends Sanctuary

6/13/2010

We stopped at Angels Rest on our way to the Coral Pink Sand Dunes, because I was unable to stop while touring and volunteering there. On our tour of Best Friends Sanctuary, we were driven past it and told about it, but they didn't have time to stop and let us out. This is the place where Best Friends are buried when they go to heaven. Those who do not find a home and those that found their people, and were brought back to be buried here. The view from Angel Rest is magnificent. We walked around Angels Rest. As we walked through Angels Rest, tears filled my eyes. There was so much love there. So many loved best friends who have gone to the other side. Best Friends were one of the first animal rescue on the scene of Hurricane Katrina, and brought many friends home to find their people or to new people to love them. My daughter, Alisha has a best friend Husky, named Maggie May too. She is an awesome girl! The new section is Angels Rest South. There are compartments in the blocked wall for urns. A fountain in the center of the Rest. The hundreds of wind chimes celebrate the lives of those best friends that aren't here anymore. If you would like to make a memorial donation for a beloved pet, or person, you can send a picture of them and they will be put them on the website in memory of them and you will be helping Best Friends goal of "No More Homeless Pets". Go to www.bestfriends.org.
