Bar Harbor & Cadillac Summit

The first thing we wanted to do on Mount Desert Island was to do the loop road in Acadia National Park. A weeks pass into Acadia National Park is $20.

As we drove into the park, we stopped at a few pull outs.

A little history of the island.

A close up of Frenchman Bay. Bar Harbor is in the right side of the picture.

We drove down to the town of  Bar Harbor before driving the Acadia Park loop road.

I didn't realize cruise ships came to Bar Harbor.

On our way up the road to the top of Cadillac Mountain we stopped to view Eagle Lake.

This was our first view from the Summit.

The fog formations on the bay and islands were so interesting.

They constantly changed and moved.

Cadillac Mountain is Acadia's Park's highest elevation and best view. Note the "wall" of  fog stretching across the bay.

It is also the highest point on the Atlantic Coastline at 1,530 feet.

It was much cooler up there, but felt really great.

Bar Harbor below.

Panoramic View

The mountain is named after the  Frenchman Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, who was granted possession of the island in the late 1600's by King Louis XIV.

Later Cadillac founded Detroit which inspired the prestigious car.

If I only had one day in Acadia, this is where I would go.

Mallery was with us and really enjoyed the cooler temps on the mountain also.

There were a lot of  other visitors to the summit also.

Another view of Bar Harbor below.

We found a spot for lunch. After I got done eating, I walked down below, for a picture looking up.

I loved the green colors of the rocks. Joe is still eating on the rock.

Mallery is begging.

She always gets the last bite.

I put Mallery on this large boulder for a pose.

She's cuter than Joe and I!

At the summit, there are restrooms and a gift shop.

Put this on your list of must visit.
