Patten Pond Campground, Ellsworth, ME.

We left Wal-Mart in Ellsworth and took Hwy. 1 south about 10 miles. As you enter into the park, you take a road through the woods for about a mile to the campground.

Joe had requested an open site, because we were only staying for two days. He hates to get tree sap on the roof for two days. So we were given site 506. Our site was out front as you drive up to the office.

Our new address for two days was 506 Salmon Run.

Nothing fancy, but full hook ups, plus free cable if you do not have a dish. With Passport America, you get two days at half price.

We paid $25 a day, for half price.

Back from the office and close to the pond, are the tree covered sites. This is a much nicer area if you are staying longer and if it is hot. Our weather has been in the mid and upper 70's, so tree cover was not that important.

Here is Patten Pond.

These are early morning shots Joe took while walking Mallery. I was still sleeping.

Looks more like a lake than a pond to me. Research tells me it is 741 acres with a maximum depth of 87 feet.

That evening, I came down to see the lake. Looking left of the lake. The campground has a dock.

Looking straight out. It has a roped off swimming area.

Looking off to the right.

They have kayaks, paddle boats, and canoes for rent.

But you can also bring your own boat or toys.

There is also a nice beach.

They have port-o- potties. They might not smell good, but they are painted cute.

The registration and store is painted cute also. Joe and I wish we had more time here, so we could rent a kayak for the day. Maybe another day.
